Opening of the Slavonic Library
- Opening hours of the Slavonic Library (incl. the reading room): Monday - Friday 9:00 - 19:00, Saturday 9:00 – 14:00
- Operating hours adjustment:
- December 23 – open only until 2 pm
- December 24 – January 1 - closed
Starting December 1, 2024, the library system of the Slavic Library will undergo changes, which will lead to the modification and unification of procedures for assigning user statuses throughout the National Library. As a result of the changes, the basic borrowing period for absentee loans of documents from the collection will be changed Slavic Library to one month.
From 13 April 2021, documents stored in the building of the National Library in Hostivař are again available.
This applies to the following departments:
- Bulgarian (signature B),
- Belarusian (K),
- Sorbian (L),
- Macedonian (Mk),
- Polish - older funds (P),
- Slovenian (S),
- generalities, dictionaries, encyclopedias (O)
We make the requested newspapers published after 1945 available in the study room of the NK building in Hostivař after confirming the order.

It contains records of books, studies, short articles, interviews, reviews and reports concerning the activities of the library that appeared in the press (newspapers, magazines, anthologies and individual publications) as well as other media (internet, radio, television). The book is divided into sections on the library itself (its activities, history and collections), followed by reactions to its publications, exhibitions, and cultural and professional events, as well as texts on the people associated with the library. The bibliography contains more than 2,700 entries, many of which are accompanied by links to digital versions of the articles. The volume is a loose continuation of the bibliography Slovanská knihovna a slavistika [The Slavonic Library and Slavic Studies], which came out in 1979 and included a catalogue of publications about the library from its establishment in 1924 until 1979 and a bibliography of its employees. Collection of documents on the history of the Slavonic Library (1924-2024): inventory / Jan Hanousek 1st edition - Prague, 2024 - 292 s. - (Bibliography of the Slavonic Library ; 86) - ISBN 978-80-7050-814-5 The book presents in the form of an inventory a collection of documents on the history of the Slavic Library, a research library focused on Slavic studies. The collection consists of a varied mosaic of documents created since the founding of the Slavic Library in 1924. It contains not only annual reports, personal files and other documents relating to the management and operation of the library, but also documents relating to the building of the library collection, cataloguing, services, and bibliographic and editorial activities. In addition, it also includes an extensive collection of photographs covering almost the entire period of the library's existence and many other interesting individuals illustrating daily life in the library. The present inventory is intended to make it easier for researchers to navigate the collection and to make deeper use of its richness.
