The Baroque Library by Tom Mairs
Illustrator Tom Mairs included a picture of the Klementinum baroque library in his book called Prague Sketchbook.
The book contains a collection of painted scenes from Prague that range from the very famous to the mundane, as he wrote in his request for the permission to paint the Baroque Library Hall, and he added that the Klementinum is such a unique and important landmark that he would love to include it in the book. Thanks to a kind cooperation with staff of Prague City Tourism, he painted the hall in two sessions and we can admire his work below.
The book is part of a unique series of sketchbooks that celebrate cities around the world. Prague Sketchbook contains one hundred original watercolours that capture the atmosphere and charm of iconic Prague locations and offer a visual narrative that could appeal to your library users and Prague visitors.
The book also includes an engaging essay by the well-known Czech writer Jaroslav Kalfař, the author of the book Spaceman of Bohemia. Kalfař's essay adds another dimension to the collection, highlighting the culture and history of Prague and bringing literary enrichment to the visual journey.
